Bit of a rollercoaster here!

I hope you're all doing well! I just wanted to drop you a quick email about some ups and downs over here! After not getting hit at all with the HCU last year, the latest Google update has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works for my main niche site (a food blog). Traffic's taken a nosedive (also not helped by Google not displaying my thumbnail images in the SERPS at the moment - a known issue affecting many food bloggers). A picture's worth a thousand words, and I could cry! But it's not all...

Me! Last week I stumbled across a part-time job being advertised in the local government sector I used to work in. On a whim, I applied, got called in for an interview the next day, and despite being out of the game for 4 years - got the job offer yesterday. I've said yes! 🎉 Now, you might be scratching your heads thinking, "Beth, why on earth are you going back to a 9-5 when you've got 3 thriving niche sites under your belt?" Here's why: Google's ups and downs lately have been doing my head...

If you missed the email where I shared a mind-blowing SEO tool that skyrocketed my own niche site growth, you can find it here! I strongly recommend reading that one first, as it will provide you with all the necessary background information on the SEO tools that I use. This week, I want to share a nifty trick for whipping up fantastic blog posts easily. It's been a game-changer for me! It's all about harnessing the amazing power of RankIQ and Koala Writer AI. Hope you're all having a productive start to the new year so far (for those keeping track of my Dry January, I'm still going strong!). As we look ahead to 2024, I wanted to share some Google Calendar tips that have really helped me be more productive. It's my secret weapon for staying on top of things. It’s not just about not forgetting stuff (though that’s pretty important) but about making every day count. So, I’ve rustled up some ace Google Calendar hacks that have been total game-changers...

As entrepreneurs, we're always looking for new revenue streams, especially in the current climate, and ways to leverage our expertise. Developing digital products is a great low-cost option with massive potential benefits. The first advantage is scalability. Once you've designed and produced a digital product like an e-book or online course (you can use something like Canva, or hire a designer to help), you have something that can be instantly delivered to customers around the world with...

Happy New Year! Hope it's treating you well so far. Today, I'd like to share a special part of my daily routine that sparks a lot of my blogging inspiration and personal development - listening to podcasts! I listen to at least one podcast each day on my daily dog walk (and when I'm waiting around for the kids to finish their various sporting activities!). Each one of these podcasts offers unique insights, not just into blogging and SEO, but other stuff I'm interested in like food, nutrition,...

selective focus photography of baked pie

Just wanted to drop you a quick line amidst the chaos at my end. You wouldn’t believe it – after Rosie (our working cocker spaniel) munched on grapes a few weeks ago, our new puppy Mabel decided a mince pie was her Christmas treat (if you're not from the UK - a mince pie is a small handheld pie filled with mincemeat - which has raisins in), landing us at the vets on Christmas Day! So yeah, grapes and mince pies are a no-go in our house now. Between that, the kids' Christmas activities, and...

So, our working cocker spaniel Rosie had a bit of drama this weekend. She accidentally got her paws on a grape (courtesy of my daughter's boyfriend), and as you might know, grapes are a big no-no for dogs (they can cause renal failure). Cue an emergency trip to the vet for blood tests and IV fluid (thank the Lord I have pet insurance!). Anyway, I'm happy to report that she is now back at home, receiving lots of TLC. While I was waiting at the vet's (in their surprisingly relaxing and tranquil...

This week I've got some news to share about my old Blogger food blog. The one that's been quietly hanging around for the last 16 years! I randomly checked the blog's analytics earlier this week (the first time in about 9 months), and guess what? My little blog, which hasn't seen a new post (or any updates) in 4 years, has had a significant traffic boost in the last month. I'm taking this as a sign from the universe – it's time to dust off the cobwebs and bring this blog back to life! And...

MacBook Pro turned on

If you read my last email, you'll know that search traffic to my highest-earning food blog declined by about 15% following the recent HCU (boo). I wasn't really sure what to attribute it to, as no single post seemed more affected than others - it seemed to be a general decline across the site. I wasn't really sure what changes to make, what to update, and what to leave alone, to be honest. But then, on my Monday morning dog walk, I listened to the latest episode of The Blogging Millionaire...
